Information about the Mazda 787B #55

The Car: The Mazda 787B is a true motorsport anomaly. It is the only car powered by a non-piston engine—the screaming R26B 4-rotor Wankel engine—to ever win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. While not the fastest car in the 1991 race, its bulletproof reliability allowed it to outlast its more fragile rivals in a true testament to endurance.

The Drivers: The winning #55 car was piloted by a talented international lineup: the German Volker Weidler, the Belgian Bertrand Gachot, and the British driver Johnny Herbert, who famously drove the final stint and was so dehydrated he had to be helped from the car after the victory.

The Achievement: Its victory in the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the most celebrated moments in racing history. It was the first-ever overall win for a Japanese manufacturer, a monumental achievement that cemented the 787B’s status as a national hero and a global motorsport legend.

This Motorhelix 787B is just insane. The level of detail in this tiny scale is mind-blowing. The Renown livery is perfect. Might be the best 1:64 car I own. Absolutely incredible.
