The Car: The Nissan Silvia (S15), with its flawless chassis balance, was the perfect canvas for a masterpiece. And the artist was the legendary Kazuhiko “Smoky” Nagata and his world-famous tuning house, Top Secret. They transformed the S15 into an icon of the D1GP, starting with the heart of the machine. The original SR20DET engine was heavily fortified with components like a massive HKS turbocharger to produce an incredible 540 horsepower. To control this monstrous power, Top Secret sculpted a signature widebody kit with extreme aerodynamics, and then cloaked the entire machine in their iconic, show-stopping gold paint.
The Driver: This car was famously piloted by Ryuji Miki (三木竜二), a legendary driver in the Japanese drift scene. His aggressive yet precise style was a perfect match for the high-powered S15.
The Achievement: The car’s crowning glory came in 2004, when Ryuji Miki drove it to win the overall D1 Grand Prix Series Championship. This victory against a field of Japan’s best drivers and tuners cemented the car’s place in motorsport history and made it one of the most famous drift cars of all time.
