The Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) VeilSide Fortune is arguably one of the most famous movie cars of the 21st century. Originally designed and built by Hironao Yokomaku of VeilSide in Japan, the “Fortune” widebody kit completely transformed the sleek lines of the FD3S into an aggressive, exotic supercar silhouette. Selected by Universal Pictures for The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) to be the primary ride for the character Han Seoul-Oh (played by Sung Kang), the car gained worldwide legendary status. Under the hood, the actual movie cars retained the high-revving 13B rotary engine, upgraded with an HKS turbo setup and Apex’i engine management, allowing it to execute the thrilling drift sequences seen on the cinematic streets of Shibuya. It stands not just as a cinematic prop, but as a monumental piece of global JDM tuning culture.
