Product details

The MINI GT 1364 1:64 Range Rover 1971 Trans-Americas Expedition (VXC-765K) accurately reproduces one of the most significant vehicles in off-road history. Designed for serious 4×4 diecast collectors and Land Rover purists, this 1/64 scale model captures the legendary heavily-modified Range Rover Classic that tackled the notoriously impassable Darien Gap. Built in a faithful left-hand drive (LHD) configuration, it’s a clean, high-fidelity casting that delivers historical accuracy without unnecessary fluff—from the dense array of authentic sponsor decals to the meticulously detailed expedition roof rack.

Why the MINIGT 1971 Expedition Range Rover is a Must-Have:
  • Historic VXC-765K Spec: Directly replicates the specific registration and rugged configuration of the lead expedition vehicle.
  • Intricate Expedition Gear: Features accurately scaled roof ladders, spare tires, a bespoke front bull bar, and auxiliary lights.
  • Authentic 1971-72 Decals: Flawlessly applies the complex “Alaska-Cape Horn” graphics and historical sponsor logos (Heinz, Champion, etc.).
  • Precision 1:64 Scale: Delivers true-to-life 1970s Range Rover Classic proportions with crisp alloy casting and authentic off-road stance.
  • LHD Configuration: Accurate Left-Hand Drive interior layout tailored for global automotive accuracy.
About the Car

In 1971, the British Trans-Americas Expedition embarked on an unprecedented 18,000-mile journey from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. At the heart of this challenge was the Darien Gap, a dense, swampy, and roadless 250-mile stretch of jungle between Panama and Colombia that had previously thwarted wheeled vehicular crossings. To conquer this terrain, the British Army, led by Major John Blashford-Snell, utilized two specially prepared early production Range Rovers—registered as VXC 765K and VXC 766K. These vehicles were stripped of standard luxuries and heavily fortified with winches, heavy-duty suspension, bespoke brush guards, and roof racks carrying essential bridging ladders and supplies. After 99 grueling days averaging barely a few miles per day, the Range Rovers successfully navigated the Gap. This monumental engineering and human endurance feat irrevocably cemented the Range Rover’s reputation as the ultimate go-anywhere luxury 4×4 in global automotive history.
