About the Car:
The Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution I was the direct answer to the BMW M3 Sport Evolution in the fiercely competitive Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM). Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1989, the EVO 1 was a homologation special, with only 502 road-going units produced to satisfy Group A racing regulations. It featured a reworked version of the Cosworth-developed engine, with a shorter stroke and bigger bore to allow for higher rev limits on the track. This specific model replicates the race car campaigned by Dany Snobeck (Snobeck Racing Service) during the 1989 season. The distinct tech-inspired livery promoted AEG’s Olympia typewriter and electronics division, symbolizing the high-tech engineering battle that defined DTM in the late 1980s.
